There are two terms in the 2021--2022 NAA Year

 Term 1: September 13th, 2021 - January 28th, 2022

Term 2: January 29th, 2022 - June 6th, 2022

(September 20th, 2021)

Students may only commence instruction (whether private lesson or group class) when registration has been confirmed and payment has been processed. Students are not considered registered until payment has been received.  Late registration for Northern Arts Academy Instruction is accepted up to and including the third week of classes. Late students are responsible for paying the full term’s tuition.

NSF cheques are subject to a $25 service charge. If a payment is declined, the student will receive a notification by email and is expected to remit payment immediately. The student agrees to provide an alternate form of payment within 5 business days. If any payment is over 5 business days late, there is an additional $20 reinstatement fee. All applicable fees and outstanding balances must be paid in full before lessons or classes can resume.

All students have the option to withdraw after a 6 week trial period or at the halfway point of the year (January 28th, 2022). In such cases we will happily refund the remainder of the lesson fees. If you continue after the initial 6 weeks, you are committed for the 1st term. If you continue after the 1st term then you are committed for the 2nd term.

In-Person Learning during COVID at the NAA Studio (163 East Street)

In monitoring current health updates regarding private and group singing as well as considering everyone’s safety, , the NAA will be providing in-person instruction for all students over the age of 12 that have been fully vaccinated beginning September 13th, 2021 as well as for students under the age of 12 who are unvaccinated.  Once vaccinations become available for under 12 students this likely will become a requirement for admission to the Studio.

COVID Protocols at the NAA Studio

In order to attend all lessons and classes in-person the following requirements/protocols must be followed:

Waiver Form

  • All students entering the Northern Arts Academy Studio will be required to submit a waiver form that will be emailed to you before the beginning of your attendance at the Studio.

Proof of Vaccination

  • Proof of vaccination for all eligible students over 12 yrs. will be required for in-person instruction.  Please email us your Dose Administration receipt to before your first lesson/class.

PLEASE NOTE:  All under 12 students are exempt from Proof of Vaccination as they are not currently eligible and have been classified as having an “approved accommodation”. Therefore, when completing the weekly screening questions on Sanitrakr for all under 12 students, please answer “yes” to question #7.

If you or your child are 12 and over and have not been vaccinated, online instruction on the Zoom platform will be available for your needs.

  • Students must create and use an account on the saniTrackr app/website.  This app provides confidential screening/contact tracing capabilities for everyone’s safety and will allow us to keep accurate records of traffic through our Studio.  Specific instructions on setup and use will be emailed to you upon full registration.

Masking/Sanitization/Physical Distancing

  • We will be adhering to strict APH COVID guidelines regarding masking, sanitization and physical distancing.

All students must sanitize and wear a mask upon entering and while inside the building.  No food or drink is permitted in the Studio.

PLEASE NOTE:  For the Singers studying in our building, we strongly recommend a Singer’s Mask (available from  The one we recommend for teen/adults is the Protec Singer’s Face Mask Model A344.  A disposable medical grade mask will work well for children--the mask should tightly cover their nose and chin.

There will be sanitizer available upon entering the building, but we ask that students provide their own masks (worn above the nose at all times).

Voice studios will have screens to sing behind for the safety of students and staff.

Group classes will be set up to accommodate physical distancing.

Lesson Attendance

  • To limit the number of people in our building, we ask that students come alone to their lessons/classes, arrive only 2-3 minutes early and are picked up promptly at the end of their session.

We also ask if students are unwell to stay home and contact APH for a COVID test before returning to lessons.  Please notify your instructor in advance for accommodation.  If a student has tested positive for COVID 19, readmission to the studio for in person lessons will require a confirmed negative test.  During this time Zoom lessons will be available.

In the event there is an infection in our student body, we will use our contact tracing capabilities with Sanitrakr to notify any affected individuals.

Students are expected to be present and on time for all private lessons and group classes and to participate actively in their musical development. Unfortunately, time lost as a result of student lateness cannot be made up. A time has been reserved for you regardless of whether or not you attend. For these reasons, we have instituted the following policies for missed lessons and classes:

      Missed private lessons

  • If you need to cancel a lesson due to illness or emergency, please notify us in advance at or by the cell number you have been provided by your instructor. If a lesson is missed due to illness or emergency and there is at least 24 hrs. notice, every effort will be made to reschedule the lesson or to arrange a Zoom session in lieu of the in-person lesson. However, in this circumstance a make-up lesson is not guaranteed - it will be done as a courtesy whenever possible as scheduling permits.

      Missed group classes

  • There is no make-up for students missing group classes. In the event of teacher absence, an alternate instructor will be assigned for the evening, or a make-up scheduled at a mutually convenient time.

      School closure

  • For school closures due to inclement weather, please be advised that the Northern Arts Academy will follow school board closure announcements. In the event of a closure we will send out email notifications or text messages to all affected students. Any lessons or classes cancelled due to weather will be rescheduled. If the lesson or class cannot be rescheduled at a convenient time, a tuition credit or refund will be issued.

      Teacher absence

  • For private lessons that are cancelled due to teacher absence, a makeup will be offered at a mutually convenient time. If the class cannot be rescheduled, a tuition credit or refund will be issued at the end of term.

In-Person lesson interruption due to changing Covid-19 measures

  • In the unexpected event that future lockdowns may occur due to changing Covid-19 measures, we will move seamlessly to all online-only instruction until APH confirms it is safe to resume in-person activities.

      In-Person lessons at the Studio

  • Students and/or parents entering the studio space will be required to be fully vaccinated (unless there is an approved accommodation), provide proof of vaccination (unless there is an approved accommodation),  wear a mask (that you supply), sanitize, and in advance of entering the building for the first time register with SaniTrakr and submit a COVID Waiver form.

For details please see: COVID Protocols for In-Person Lessons
